Important Application Dates & Deadlines:
Lifeguard and Swim Instructor applications are open and accepted throughout the year.

Certification & Availability Requirements:
- All staff need to be either Lifeguard or CPR/First Aid/AED certified by June 1, 2025
- Employment is dependent upon completing appropriate certifications by June 1, 2025
- Applicants need to know summer availability for the following programs:
- Lifeguarding: June-August
- Camp Ladera: June 9th-July 25
- Session 4: 6/30-7/2
- Camp Ladera time has been extended: 10-3pm
Certification Courses @ LRD:
- CPR/First Aid/AED Cert Courses
- Tuesday, March 25 @ 5:30–7:00pm
- Tuesday, April 29 @ 5:30–7:00pm
- Tuesday, May 20 @ 5:30–7:00pm
- Lifeguard Certification Courses (& re-certs available, certs must be valid or expired within 30days.)
- Sunday March 23 & March 30 @ 8am-5pm
- Sunday April 27 & May 4 @ 8am-5pm
Interview & Hiring Process:
After receiving your online application, LRD management will reach out to you to schedule an interview. Typical availability are week nights at 6pm or Weekends.
- Interviews are required for new and returning staff
- Keep in mind that if you have worked for LRD in the past, it does not guarantee you will be hired again
- Hires will be informed of employment on April 9th.
- Employees will be directed to an onboarding website where you can download and fill out the necessary paperwork and work permit (for those under the age of 18)
- Turn in paperwork ASAP
Communication:
- Correspondence will only take place with the applicants regarding applications, hiring, scheduling or job duties.
- Contact with parents is not allowed.
Job Descriptions:
Lifeguard positions are seasonal and year-round. Guards report directly to the Head Guard and/or the Facilities, Aquatics & General Managers.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to and execute emergency lifesaving procedures to swimmers in distress and other emergencies at the pool
- Enforce pool rules of the pool
- Complete Incident Reports regarding incidents at the pool
- Attend all mandatory In-Service Trainings and Safety/Staff Meetings
- Help maintain cleanliness of LRD’s pool deck & locker rooms.
- Reviews all pool equipment and furniture for functionality.
- Provides excellent customer service to pool patrons
Qualifications:
- Current Lifeguard CPR/AED Certification in a pool setting
- Professional, team-player, responsible, self-motivated and reliable
- Excellent time management & communication skills
- Must be at least 15 years old
- Available to potentially work early mornings, nights, weekends & holidays.
- LRD accepts applicants who are members & non-members.
Pay Rate:
- $17-$25/hour depending on experience and season.
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
- Due of the fluctuating nature of the community center environment and operations, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions. It may be necessary to work in other areas of the LRD and help others when the occasion arises. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks as needed or directed.

Swim Instructor positions are year-round or seasonal. Swim Instructors report directly to the Aquatics Manager & General Manager.
Instructing Responsibilities:
- Self- determined schedule within boundaries of other aquatic programming.
- Provide high quality swim instruction as directed by Aquatics Manager or General Manager
- Provide feedback to swimmers and parents as needed
- Ensure client satisfaction and safety
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Attend all mandatory In-Service Trainings and Safety/Staff Meetings
- Manage schedule & communicate appropriately with upper management
Qualifications :
- Current CPR/AED Certification
- Professional, team-player, responsible, self-motivated and reliable
- Must be available to work nights, weekends, and/or weekdays
- Must be at least 15 years old
